NIKE78: 78 sneaker redesigns by 78 different designers
Paul Jenkins, founder of Nike78, asked 78 designers to redesign a pair of Nike shoes. Talents including This is Studio, W+K Tokyo Lab, Andy Miller, and Jean Jullien participated in the challenge.
“…Presenting each participant with a 3D blank canvas, it is a unique design-sport crossover. 78 pairs of NIKE shoes have been distributed to creatives worldwide from multi-disciplined backgrounds featuring some of the most talented creative individuals, studios and other organisations…” —Nike78

There are some very interesting ideas in the newly launched NIKE78 online gallery. We paused at the designs by This is Studio, Wieden + Kennedy Tokyo Lab, Matthew Dent, and Erica Dorn. (shown above in order mentioned)
The culmination of the ambitious project will be part of an exhibition at the upcoming London Design Festival.
Below is a video behind the making of W+K Tokyo Lab’s reimagined pair of AIR Max 360, rebranded as ABUKU.
